Quilting 101: Disappearing 9 Patch Quilt
Do you want to quilt, but have no idea where to even start? In five sessions, you will learn every step of making a quilt, from choosing your fabric to cutting and piecing to binding and finishing! The disappearing nine patch is a deceptively simple quilt block. It's perfect for beginner sewists and a great shortcut block with tons of variations.
Class Difficulty Level: 2 - students should know how to use a sewing machine

Materials:
- For Quilt Top
- 1 Pack Print Charm Squares
- (A) 1 Pack Solid Light Charm Squares OR ¾ yard of Light color AND ⅓ yard of Dark Color **OR** (B) 1 Pack Solid Dark Charm Squares OR ¾ yard of Dark color AND ⅓ yard of Light Color
**If you want a quilt with a lighter overall color scheme, choose option A. If you want a quilt with a darker overall color scheme, choose option. B
- For Finishing
- 2 3/4 yards of quilt backing
- 48 X 48 piece of Batting (further information given during first class)
- ½ yard for Binding

- Sewing Machine, Pedal and Cord
- 2 Bobbins that fit machine
- Universal Foot that fits machine
- Walking Foot that fits machine
- Cutting Mat
- Rotary Cutter
- 6 X 24 Acrylic Ruler
- Scissors
- Seam Ripper
- Spool of Neutral Thread (50 weight)
- Spool of coordinating Thread for Machine Quilting (40 weight)
- Iron
- Ironing board
- Sewing Machine Manual
Please note that sewing machines, irons and ironing boards and many other supplies are available in our classroom space. As there will be homework to be completed between classes, students will need most of these materials on hand. We highly recommend bringing your own sewing machine. Please bring your sewing machine manual as well.
